Originally created for Oldham Early Years Special Educational Needs Service. The Oldham Early Years works with preschool children and their families at home, and with staff and providers of Early Education provision to identify and assess young children’s special educational needs and to set up Individual Education Programmes to meet those needs.
The work with families is usually carried out on home visits and we use a variety of strategies that are most appropriate to meet the child’s individual needs.
Over the years, Oldham Early Years Special Educational Needs Service has become aware of ways of introducing parents to Signalong as a method of developing their child’s communication skills, and parents have requested specific vocabulary to use at home with their child. "Signalong at Home" has been developed in response to these requests.
